The Retreat is 2,000 square feet and will comfortably sleep 8.  Upstairs is a large master bedroom with a king sized bed and the loft which has a sleeper sofa (queen).   Downstairs is a guest bedroom with a full sized bed.    The sunroom has a privacy curtain and a trundle bed with 2 twin mattresses.   If needed, extra blow-up mattresses and linens are provided.

In the winter, the wood burning stove in the great room makes a cozy, relaxing setting.   For extra relaxation, enjoy the 2 person jacuzzi in the downstairs bath.     Eat outside or take a nap on the screened porch or on the deck facing the river.     Outside there are lots of little places to sit and just enjoy nature.     Walk the trails – – or bike them.   Play croquet or bocce in the big open field.   Enjoy badminton by the river or a game of ping pong in the open, airy,  basement.     Whether it’s summer or winter, fires are always a favorite thing to do in the evenings.    The firepit seems to invite good conversation and reflection and is a wonderful way to end the day.   Cook your steaks over a wood fire or maybe enjoy roasted marshmallows.

Three miles upriver, you can “put in” with your tube (inner tube) and float down the river back to the retreat.    If this is on your “to do” list, bring old tennis shoes or river shoes and old clothes.   We can provide the tubes and life jackets.

Polk County is known for outdoor adventures.   Within minutes you can go fly fishing (with or without a guide) on the Hiwassee River (excellent trout fishing), go whitewater rafting on a class 4 river, hike in the Cherokee National Forest.   There are wonderful scenic drives along the Ocoee River, horseback riding, train excursions and much more.      Chattanooga is 45 minutes away – – there is shopping, fine dining, and lots to do.    (see “attractions”)
We call it the “retreat” for a reason – – it’s a place to get away from it all.    Be warned  – – we have no television although you can watch DVD’s on the flat screen TV in the great room or in the loft.     If you have Verizon you will have no problem getting a signal.    I’m not sure about the other cell phone providers.
